Siddhartha Tytler talks about the inspiration behind his upcoming collection, FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend and more...
A force to reckon with, Siddartha Tytler has been a long-standing name in the industry. Known to launch many memorable campaigns, Siddartha collections always find a way to celebrate bold and beautiful. Having dressed everyone from Priyanka Chopra to Sidharth Malhotra, and Beyoncé to other known names—Siddartha with every silhouette, takes the notch high. Ahead, in a conversation with Manifest he tells us what he is looking forward to at the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend and reveals who is a classic Siddartha Tytler couple.
Last year, his collection titled Mehfil-e-Husn was all about quintessential Indian silhouettes peppered with maximalist elements. Reminiscent of old-world charm from the Mughal era…it took us back to the women who served as muses, Rekha’s character in the movie Umrao Jaan, and more. He shares, “Last season was all about lehengas and anarkalis. The collection which we will showcase at ICW this year will feature a lot of drapes. We are also introducing gowns and dresses alongside a few Western pieces for men.
The upcoming collection is called Caligula’s Feast. Caligula was a young Roman emperor who came into reign and he was very twisted, dark, and yet grand. There is a crazy story behind Caligula and I took inspiration from the same. So yeah, it’s going to be a mix of Indian, Western and Indo-Western stuff.”
The collection is different from what he has presented before and he agrees because the taste of trousseau has evolved quite a bit. “Brides now want more Western silhouettes for their trousseau. They don’t care about the good ol’ salwar kameez and sarees anymore. They want ensembles that can be worn to a cocktail party. Thanks to Instagram, they want pieces that can be easily thrown upon, dressed up and down in a jiffy and can be worn much later.”
Adding to it, he says “The notion of fast fashion, too, has trickled into couture. Hence, we are trying to meet the demands of the consumers.” Upon asking what he is ecstatic about the most as we inch closer to the Manifest FDCI Wedding Weekend, he adds “We have been working really hard since the past six months and all we need is validation, excitement from the audience and good sales of course!”
Siddartha Tytler is going to showcase at the FDCI Manifest Wedding Weekend. It’s an invite-only event which will be held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi, on August 3-4, 2024. For an invitation, register here or reach out at fmww@rpsg.in
