Indulge in the sweetness of chocolate and the sensuality of alcohol with these chocolate cocktail recipes
Whether you want to treat yourself to something delectable at the end of a long day or want something sweet to nibble on when you’re celebrating, chocolate is the perfect answer for all situations. Therefore, it’s a no-brainer to pair the universally beloved ingredient with your spirit of choice to create the perfect cocktail.
The infusion of rich chocolate with the tender bitterness of spirits and the sugary taste of fruits has given rise to chocolate cocktails. Chocolate compliments almost all liqueurs and fruits well without overpowering their taste and can make for the perfect cocktail ingredient for date nights or dinner parties.

Chef Pramod Joshi from Taj Fort Aguada Bakery recommends this one as it could be customised to your taste. “Experiment with different types of ice cream or different base alcohols. It’s visually appealing, full of richness and flavour and blends the familiar comfort of a milkshake with the kick of alcohol making it a fund dessert drink,” he says.
1. Chill the cocktail or wine glasses.
2. In two large glasses, drizzle one tablespoon of chocolate syrup and swirl the glass to distribute it around the inside edge of the glass.
3. Combine the vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, heavy cream, crème de cacao, and ice in a blender.
4. Blend until smooth.
5. Carefully pour the mixture into prepared cocktail glasses.
6. Garnish with whipped cream or cocoa powder if desired.
As chef Subhankar Chitrakar from Taj Holiday Village Bakery rightly “Raspberry and Chocolate Cocktail fits the bill perfectly of an elegant cocktail for a romantic evening,” says Chef Subhankar Chitrakar from Taj Holiday Village Bakery, “Red symbolises love in a visual way and chocolate symbolising love through your taste buds.”
1. Combine the raspberries with the sugar in a medium saucepan.
2. Simmer until the berries break down and the sugar has dissolved.
3. Remove from heat; strain, and refrigerate until cool.
4. Add the Raspberry Liqueur and stir to combine.
1. Chill the glasses in the freezer for at least five minutes.
2. Rub the edge of the glass with white chocolate liqueur. Dip into either pink, red, or white crystals or a combination of all three.
3. Combine the half-and-half, white chocolate liqueur, vodka, and raspberry syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
4. Shake until ice cold.
5. Pour into chilled glasses and serve.
Chef Tushar Malkani From The Yellow House, IHCL SeleQtions, says “Vodka adds a touch of intrigue to chocolate truffles without overpowering it and hence keeps the palate interested. This is a fun way to play with adult flavours in a dessert”.
1. Fill a shaker with ice and add the vodka, chocolate liqueur, heavy cream, cocoa powder, powder, and chocolate syrup.
2. Shake vigorously until well combined and chilled.
3. Strain the mixture into a martini glass.
4. Garnish with truffle chocolates on a skewer or toothpick.
5. Serve and enjoy the rich and indulgent flavours of the Vodka Truffle.
As per Salil Naik Senior Bartender at Nksha Restaurant, the White Coconut Bliss is the perfect drink to celebrate World Chocolate Day with, “The combination of white chocolate and coconut syrup, in addition of mint soda makes it all totally blissful.”
1. Melt the chocolate and add 20 ml milk to it. Mix well and add vodka
2. Add 10ml lime juice to curdle it. Once it’s curdled add monin coconut syrup and leave for 15 minutes.
3. Strain it through a coffee filter.
4. In a pre-chilled glass, add block ice and pour 60ml of the above concoction.
5. Add 30ml of mint soda.
6. Stir it once and garnish with white chocolate.
Chef Shailendra of Jubilee Restaurant, Pune, says, “This exquisite concoction is a celebration of bold flavours and sophisticated elegance, perfect for any moment that deserves a touch of luxury”.
1. Over a double boiler, melt the chocolate and pour over the shot of hot espresso, sugar and hot water.
2. Take this mixture in a Boston shaker.
3. Add tequila stir for a minute and pour in a coffee cup.
4. Rim the cup with orange rind and silver confetti.
