The newly minted bride tells Manifest everything that went behind the scenes of her picture-perfect wedding
If you were one of Nishtha Gandhi Malik’s (over) 182,000 followers on Instagram, you’d have had a front-row seat to the influencer’s dreamy wedding to her boyfriend of four years Karan Malik. For Nishtha, documenting the entire wedding planning process, and the wedding itself online was a no-brainer.
“Even before I knew I was getting married, I had an entire plan prepared in my head. When I get married, I want to be one of those influencers who just doesn’t go viral because her wedding went viral, but be an influencer who adds value to their audience’s lives,” says Nishtha, as she chats with Manifest post her wedding ceremony, “I wanted people to understand that weddings are expensive but there’s a way to get your dream wedding without breaking the bank. I wanted to make the whole planning process accessible through my Instagram page.”
The Delhi-based influencer met her now-husband via a mutual friend and the stars aligned for the two. Thus began a relationship that led to a picture-perfect proposal. Literally.
“Karan convinced me to plan a trip to Turkey. This was the first time we were travelling together internationally,” she recalls, “He had it in mind for about three or four months and had aligned with my best friend beforehand, who had also come along with us to Turkey with her husband. He is a low-key guy, so he popped the question at a nice fine dining in Cappadocia but he did a photoshoot on a hot air balloon just for Instagram for me.”
While Nishtha’s Instagram family accompanied her on the journey to the wedding, including shopping for her bridal trousseau and even choosing her chooda, the influencer had left most of the major wedding planning decisions to her brother.
“My brother, who owns Nishchay Gandhi Designs (a wedding planning company) took care of most of the details. I knew there was nobody else I could have trusted with the whole process,” she said, adding, “I enjoyed doing the recce for my wedding outfits and sharing it with my audience!”
Her decision to leave it to the pros turned out to be a golden one as her brother, and his team, managed to pull together Nishtha’s dream wedding, “I got my dream wedding. Everything was absolutely perfect!”
The newly-minted bride goes on to add how her wedding was the manifestation of all her wishes, “I always wanted to get married surrounded by people who cared about me and not the entire world. I wanted a wedding where everything was hyperfocused on me and my loved ones, and that’s exactly what I got.”
For her wedding day, the bride wore a traditional Rimple and Harpreet Narula lehenga and walked the aisle to a personalised song by WedBeats.
Since the bride eschewed a destination wedding in favour of having a guest list that comprised all her loved ones, she spread out the various pre-wedding ceremonies across several days. “I intentionally kept one function per day. It doesn’t tire you or your guests out. Everybody had ample amount of time to sleep and turn up the next day fresh and ready to enjoy!”
Now that the wedding is over, Nishtha is looking forward to building a life together with Karan. “I can’t wait to see how we merge together as a married couple and I want to travel the world with him,” she says, before signing off.
Here’s wishing the newlyweds all the love and happiness!
